Seminar: 2019 Building & Electrical Code Changes with Douglas Hansen & Skip Walker

There are numerous changes to the building and electrical codes that went into effect in January. These include significant changes for decks, smoke alarms, crawlspace ventilation, stairs and guards, insulation, accessory dwelling units, and more. Electrical code changes include expanded requirements for GFCIs, electric vehicles, mandatory PV systems, receptacle locations, switching, and more.
This seminar will be interactive, and offers an opportunity to hear directly from two of the most knowledgeable experts on current codes, building standards, and inspection protocols.
Douglas Hansen is a founding member of the home inspection profession in the 1980s, and has authored numerous publications, including Electrical Inspection of Existing Dwellings. For several years he has been the lead author of the Code Check series. He recently retired from his position as senior inspector and chief plans examiner for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing at the City of Santa Clara.
Skip Walker is an ASHI Certified Inspector, a CREIA Master Inspector, an ICC Certified Combination Residential Building Inspector, an ICC Certified California Combination Residential Building Inspector, and co-author of the Code Check© series. He is the recipient of the 2014 ASHI Philip C. Monahan Award, ASHI’s highest honor, the 2014 ASHI President’s Award, the 2014 CREIA John Daly Award, CREIA’s highest honor and the 2011 CREIA Inspector of the Year.
