March Dinner Meeting: Garage Door Backups with Joe Hetzel of DASMA

Senate Bill 969 now requires battery backup on automatic garage door openers when a garage door or opener are replaced. The bill comes in response to the wildfires which saw at least 5 people die inside their garages due to becoming trapped in the 2017 fire season. Learn how these systems work, and how to properly inspect them and the garage doors.
5:30pm Pre-Meeting David Pagano will have a presentation on using a drone in the home inspection business. Learn about the legal requirements and limitations of drones. (Attendees with earn an additional ASHI CE)
6:45pm Comment Review Brian Cogley, past president, will provide a report writing analysis using member-submitted comments to improve clarity and the principles of Identification, Implication, and Recommendation.

7:00pm Chapter Meeting During dinner, chapter president Paul Barraza will lead a short business meeting to cover chapter and ASHI business, committee reports, and upcoming educational opportunities.
7:45pm Main Speaker Joe Hetzel will discuss garage door battery backup systems and inspection fo garage doors.
Since 1996, Joe Hetzel has been the technical director of DASMA (Door & Access Systems Manufacturers’ Association). Joe is a registered professional engineer (P.E.) with 17 years of experience in civil, environmental, and structural engineering. He received the Distinguished Service Award from IDA (International Door Association) in 2014.
