Chapter Meeting: Architectural historians will speak about their experience in historic preservation, regulations, and construction history

Michael & Caitlin Hibma are architectural historians based in Richmond, California. Michael is an Associate Architectural Historian at LSA, an environmental consulting firm in Point Richmond and currently heads their Architectural History Department. Caitlin owns and operates Left Coast Architectural History, a one-woman preservation consulting firm.
Pre-Meeting – 5:30 to 6:50 pm
GGASHI member Matt Cantor is just completing a local 2800 square foot house with only electric equipment. There is, in fact, no gas meter at all.
The building has a small solar array with micro-inverters, a hybrid electric water heater and two sets of mini-split heat pumps with a total of 6 interior heating/cooling units.
Matt will discuss the reason for these choices and the complications and advantages in taking this path.

Brian Cogley, Past President, will provide a report writing analysis using member-submitted comments to improve clarity and the principles of Identification, Implication, and Recommendation.
Chapter Business Meeting — 7:00 to 7:45 pm
Paul Barraza, Chapter President, will lead a short business meeting to cover chapter and ASHI business, committee reports, and upcoming educational opportunities.
Educational Presentation — 7:45 to 9:00 pm
Architectural historians will speak about their experience in historic preservation, regulations, and construction history
They will discuss the national, state, and local regulations that drive their work and the preservation incentives that entice property owners to rehabilitate and preserve their historic buildings. They will also explore correlations between building inspection and architectural history; namely, how building forensics are used to learn about design, construction, use, and development,
